ON TWO SPECIES OF AMPHIPOD CRUSTACEA FROM YUNNAN, CHINA

<正> The amphipoda constitute but one of the many groups of benthic crustacea inhabiting fresh, brackish and salt waters. Their economic importance as a source of food for fishes, especially commercial pond fishes, has instigated, in some localities, the development of breeding them artificially on a commercial scale. The potentiality of further development along these lines is worthy of investigation, since the productivity of fish culture may, to some extent, be improved by their propagation under normal or artificial conditions (Kendal, 1921).For the purpose of carrying out a quantitative study of the amphipoda of the Kunming and Ta-Li Lakes, Yunnan Province, an attempt to complete a general survey of these lakes was made. The present paper is the sixth of a series of reports dealing with the crustacea of that province. The observations made were based upon collections from these two lakes, where amphipods, although abundant in numbers, proved to be few in species. So far, only one species has been recogn
