<正>Four is a very important number in Western culture.This paper intends to explore the use of four elements and their significance in Shakespeare' s sonnets 44 and 45.They demonstrate the correspondence between nature and human being,the platonic/Christian dualism,and the separation and unity between the speaker and the young man.
