Electrochemical Study on Nano C-Fe deposited Screen Printed Carbon Electrodes and Its Application for Glucose Biosensing

  Graphitic encapsulation of ferromagnetic materials,e.g.,Fe,Co,and Ni,has attracted the research interest because of their unique physical and chemical properties.In this study,graphitically encapsulated Fe nanocrystals(Nano C-Fe) were synthesized by arc discharge method and mixed with ferricyanide(Ferri).An amperometric glucose biosensor constructed by depositing glucose oxidase(GOD) and Ferri-Nano C-Fe mixture onto the screen-printed carbon electrodes(SPCEs) was investigated.The modified processes of the SPCEs and the electrochemical characteristics were analyzed by cyclic voltammetry(CV), chronoamperometry(CA) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).Results showed that addition of Nano C-Fe can effectively reduce the electron transfer resistance(R_(et)) and increase the redox peak currents.In addition,the optimal applied potential for glucose measurements was 0.4 V and the biosensor demonstrated a wide linear response range(25—600 mg/dL),high sensitivity(0.084μA dL/mg) and a lower detection limit (5.7 mg/dL).……
