  Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between pain and Quality of life in terminal patients of WuHan hospice who newly admitted to hospice home care. Method: From February 2003 to March 2010, the data of pain and Quality of life of 1634 terminal patients with complete who were admitted to WuHan University ZhongNan hospital hospice of Li Ka Shing Foundation (WuHan hospice) newly was described and correlated. The patients were collected the clinical trail when the team members of hospice given first visiting at the patients` home. The pain score was self-report which assessment using numerical rating scale(NRS).The Chinese Quality of life (Chinese-QOL) instrument was developed by professor SunYan at 1990 and it included 12 scales about fatigue, appetite, sleep, mood, pain, support by family, support by social, attitude to cancer, attitude to treatment, face appearance, movement, side effects. The global QOL was the total of each domain score. Result: In hospice care, the tumor types were the common diagnosis of clinical and the most prevalent diagnosis were lung cancer(29.1%), liver cancer(10.0%), stomach cancer(9.6%), colon-rectum cancer(5.8%) and breast cancer(5.8%). Among the patients,the most patients have moderate-sever pain and the average QOL score was bad-fair. The pain intensity impacted significantly on global QOL. Among mild, moderate and severe pain, the mean of global QOL are 36.63, 33.39 and 28.19, respectively. The global QOL is the best in mild pain patients and is bad in severe pain patients. For patients who had received analgesics treatment before admission to hospice, the global QOL has impaired. Between analgesics treatment yes group and analgesics treatment no group, the global QOL was different significantly. There are significant negative correlation between pain score and global QOL, appetite, mood, sleep, fatigue and support by family. In the other hand, it is not significant correlation between pain score and support by social, attitude to cancer and attitude to treatment.Conclusions: Pain impacted significantly on QOL according to influence the physical, spiritual and social domain of QOL in terminal patients of WuHan hospice.……
