Comparison of changes in deltaic development of the Mississippi and Yellow Rivers

  Delta development is controlled by river power,sediment transport,and near-shore hydrodynamic process.In a natural state,equilibrium can be reached between these different forces,creating a temporal stable although dynamic environment.Globally, the natural state of many river deltas has been experiencing anthropogenic disturbances, such as dam construction,channel modification,and intensive land use in the drainage basins,leading to changes in riverine sediment transport,deposition,distribution,and deltaic subsidence.Two of the most engineered rivers in the world are the Mississippi/Atchafalaya River system in the United States and the Yellow River……
