  The Louisiana coastal plain is built of approximately 28000 square kilometers of deposited Holocene sediments.The coastal region is not only home to over 2 million Louisianians,but is also among the largest wetland and bird migration areas of the world.The deposited sediments were mainly carried by the Mississippi River that drains a total land area of nearly 3 million square kilometers of the conterminous United States.……
