Cloning and sequencing of the full length cDNA encoding the catalytic beta subunit of protein phosphatase 1 from the skin tissue of flatfish turbot Scophthalmus maximus by RACE technique

  Reversible protein phosphorylation is an important and versatile mechanism by which cells transduce external signals into biological responses. Cellular levels of protein phosphorylation are determined by the balanced actions of both protein kinases and protein phosphatases. Protein phosphatasesl is an important member of the protein serine/threonine phosphatase family. In the present study, a fulllength cDNA, encoding the catalytic beta subunit of protein phosphatase(?) is isolated and sequenced from the skin tissue of flatfish turbot Scophthalmus maximus (Smpplcb) by Rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) technique. The cDNA sequence of Smpp(?)cb gene we obtained contains a 984 bp open reading frame (ORF), flanked by a 46 bp 5 untranslated region and a 462 bp 3 untranslated region. The ORF encodes a putative 327 amino acid protein with a calculated molecular mass of 37,193 Da.……
