Characterization of a Zinc/Iron Metal Binding Site in Methionine-R-Sulfoxide Reductases B
<正>Methionine residues in proteins are susceptible to be oxidized into methionine sulfoxide (MetSO) by almost all forms of reactive oxygen species (ROS). This post-translation modification can lead to loss of protein function. Methionine sulfoxide reductases B (MsrBs) catalyze the reduction of the methionine-R-sulfoxide via a two-step chemical mechanism implying a reductase step followed by a thioredoxin-recycling step. 50% of the MsrBs,, possesses a metal binding site formed by two CXXC motifs.
